Assessments for ADHD and Autism
Assessments for ADHD and AUstism
I offer ADHD and autism assessments for verbally fluent individuals beginning at age 8 and across the lifespan. I have a particular interest in working with girls and women, whose ADHD and autism can sometimes be overlooked because their struggles may be less visible or may look different from what people traditionally expect. Some may become very good at watching, copying, or adapting to the people around them while privately feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or like they are working much harder than everyone else. An assessment can help make sense of these experiences and provide a clearer understanding of how you—or your child—experience the world.
My approach is thoughtful, conversational, and strengths-based. For autism assessments, I use the MIGDAS-2, an approach that gives us the opportunity to understand how you think, communicate, connect with others, experience your senses, and engage with the things that matter to you. I look at the whole person rather than simply checking off symptoms, and when appropriate, I gather information from significant others, parents, caregivers, or teachers as well. The goal is not simply to arrive at a diagnosis, but to help you better understand yourself and have language for experiences that may have been difficult to explain.
Assessments are scheduled as individual sessions for 60, 75, or 90 minutes. The average length of time to complete a full assessment is 8-12 sessions.
